Why you need an AI manifesto

Written by Alison Leishman | 17 Sep 2024 4:58:33 PM

If you’re one of the 65% of businesses using AI, you need to have rules in place for your business.

65% of businesses are using generative AI, according to the latest McKinsey Global Survey on AI. We believe that AI can take you to the cutting edge faster and do much of the heavy lifting in a way that makes you more efficient and yes, more creative! We view it as an enabler rather than a threat and this explains why, according to a survey by Deloitte, 94% of business leaders believe generative AI will be critical to their organisation’s success in the next five years.

One way to integrate this tool into your business, we believe, is by developing your own AI manifesto. This document becomes your North Star when you start integrating AI usage into your technologies, processes and tech stack.

AI MANIFESTO DEFINITION

An AI manifesto is a formal declaration that outlines an organisation's principles, intentions, and ethical guidelines for the responsible development, deployment, and use of artificial intelligence technologies.

In the interest of sharing information we believe is critical to not just doing better work, but also building a better world, we are freely sharing our AI manifesto for any businesses looking for an inbound approach and best-practice philosophy to generative AI use.

What is an AI Manifesto and why do we need this?

An AI manifesto is essentially a formal statement outlining an organisation's values, principles, and practices regarding the use of artificial intelligence. It serves to guide decision-making and operational strategies, ensuring that AI is implemented responsibly and ethically.

The need for an AI manifesto arises from the increasing integration of AI technologies in business and societal contexts, which raises complex ethical, legal, and operational challenges. A manifesto helps to align AI deployment with an organisation's mission and values, manage risks, and build trust among users, stakeholders, and regulators by demonstrating commitment to responsible AI practices.

Through this manifesto, we pledge to use AI not just to do things better, but to do better things, enhancing our human efforts with artificial intelligence.

What We Will Not Support

Spitfire Inbound is committed to ethical AI use, which inherently means avoiding practices that could harm society, individuals, or violate legal and ethical standards:

  • Misinformation: We will avoid any engagement in AI applications designed to create or disseminate misinformation, untrustworthy information, or disinformation.
  • Malicious Use: We will not support the use or distribution of AI technologies that can be used maliciously.
  • Privacy: We will respect and protect sensitive characteristics such as race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, income, sexual orientation, ability, and political or religious beliefs, avoiding their misuse.
  • Reckless AI: We will rigorously evaluate AI implementations to prevent any that might cause harm or facilitate injury to people.
  • Law Contradiction: We will steer clear of any AI projects that contravene international law or human rights principles, including those related to data protection and information security.
  • Data Protection: We will not expose client data to AI without their consent and will align our actions to their data policies and AI manifesto

This manifesto will evolve as our understanding and the AI landscape change, ensuring our commitment remain relevant and impactful.
